The Tipperary Dance Festival Masterclass Programme has become the Pro Sessions Programme. A unique opportunity for a close encounter in the studio with international artists at Tipperary Dance Festival. This is your chance to explore their distinctive approaches to creative and choreographic processes.
Reinaldo Ribeiro is in residence at Tipperary Dance Festival this year. He will perform a work-in-progress and be part of the discussion panel at In and Between on 09 October.
Reinaldo Ribeiro describes himself as a Transoceanic Artist – Conceptual Bitch – Afrofuturist Lover. His work moves between choreography, live arts, and what he calls “cosmic perreo”. He explores what he defines as the 4P concept: the relationship between the political, the poetic, the personal, and the pathetic. He has a particular interest in expanded stage practices and projects that activate decolonial thinking and gaze.
This Pro Session is inspired by Reinaldo’s current research into the deconstruction of hegemonic masculinity, using somatic practices (tantra yoga, breathwork) and voicework to deconstruct and dismantle gender mandates.
