Conversations around the nature and conditions of dance practice and the political & social place of dance are integral to Tipperary Dance Festival. This year's discussion takes place in the context of Ireland’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union 2026.

Murielle will facilitate a blend of conversations, practices and reflections alongside Tipperary Dance guests, focusing on the experience of being 'the other' - specifically the experience of being an immigrant, and the intersectionality of lived experience (being Brown/Black and/or artist and/or immigrant and/or queer and/or…) within international cultural contexts.

A special time will be dedicated to considering the interplay of individual experiences with artistic practices and processes, community(es), audiences, institutions, presenters and funding bodies.

The Collection of Stories
For the creation of An Immigrant’s Story, Wanjiru Kamuyu collected stories from people with diverse migration experiences, creating a body of material that became central to the research and composition process of the work. Listen and contribute here.
