Stephan Herwig
We are proposing an intensive made of two masterclasses to discover the work of Stephan Herwig (Masterclasses 3 and 4).
Stephan’s work is defined by a deep and deliberate focus on the dancers’ bodies. Rather than relying on fixed movement material, the dancers respond in real time to clearly defined tasks.
In masterclass 3, we will explore what is required to give the body presence, and how to sustain this presence in improvised actions. How can one enter into physical exchange with other dancers and with the space, while maintaining an awareness of one’s own body
In masterclass 4, Stephan will share concrete, physical insights into his choreographic practice. Participants will have the opportunity to try out specific tasks drawn from his choreographies and to explore personal solutions both individually and in groups.
