Mary Nunan is a choreographer and performer. Throughout her career she has created a substantial body of critically acclaimed works that have been performed at national and international venues. Her professional career began when she joined Ireland’s first state funded contemporary dance company: Dublin Contemporary Dance Theatre (1981-86). She was founder Artistic Director of Daghdha Dance Company (1988-1999). Mary was Course Director of the MA Contemporary Dance Performance at the Irish World Academy (1999-2016) and visiting guest lecturer at the RCA London (2016-17). She earned her PhD at Middlesex University. Since 2016 she has returned to creating and performing work as an independent artist. She has also been developing an approach to movement called Z(ero)ing: a series of activities that provide for space to be experienced as an integrative force in the relationship between mind/body in motion.
