Derek Pedros is a filmmaker and photographer specialized in movement and space, dance and architecture, based in the Canary Islands, Spain.
Formed in photography, obsessed with space, light, composition and color.
After finishing my studies I started working as a photographer and editor in Barcelona, for fashion and advertising agencies for more than 4 years.
There I acquired the necessary knowledge to develop my personal and professional work. Over the years my attention turned to the moving image (video), finding a place to focus my career as a filmmaker in advertising. I joined the roster of directors at Púgil Films (Madrid), Jakiens (Valencia) and as a collaborator at Boldy Films (Vancouver).
At the same time, my interest in image and dance became connected, creating a path where I found my specialty and my passion, and where I have developed over the last 5 years.
In an organic way this mix of interests, focused towards architecture, and the use of space as the main axis. Throughout this journey I have been lucky enough to live in Barcelona, Madrid, Berlin, Valencia, Vancouver, Miami and Sint Maarten (Caribbean), places where I have developed my career.
Working for clients such as Camper, Schwarzkopf, Pacha Ibiza, Generalitat de Barcelona, Government of Lugano, Government of the Canary Islands, Decatlhon, Oysho, Deporvillage, among many others.
I have given workshops for the Universidad Europea de Canarias, La Fábrica de Hielo in Valencia and film and movement festivals in Barcelona (Sismograf, Choreoscope, etc).
I am currently developing projects on movement and architecture with Auditorio de Tenerife, Unesco Spain, TEA Tenerife, Mies foundation, César Manrique foundation, and private companies such as BeTenerife, Wisemotion, The Sibarist, Underwater Garden and Canary Essence.
