Lauren graduated from the University of Limerick, 2021, with a first class honors degree in contemporary dance. Dance was first introduced to her by her mother at the age of 4.
She was engaged to be part of Tipperary Dance Creates 2022 Rising Voices after our Open Call in January. Rising Voices is a new experimental interdisciplinary space dedicated to artistic research, creation and professionalisation, with an emphasis on collective work.
"I am exhilarated by the opportunity of working within an experimental interdisciplinary space with an intimate group. The prospect of collaborating with a composer and dramaturg suggest an enriching experience. I am excited to connect with the other dancers on a deep level. I look forward to investigating my own questions and how these fit into the work at hand, such as: how can an emotion come naturally from the movement, how can I find this subtlety? I’m curious about exploring how certain movements or positions in space can put forward different proposals to the audience.
I am really excited to be working with a company who not only challenges my movement capabilities, but also my thinking and being. I realise how the person cannot be separated from the dancer, so this way of working holds immense value for me especially at this early stage of my career."
