A two-week research residency at Tipperary Dance in the context of our International Residencies Exchange Programme.
The outcome of this residency will be shared in a double-bill the 11 October.
From One Skin to Another is a struggle to shed a skin, to move forward, to let go. It is the story from cocoon to butterfly, of a snake that sheds it skin. It is a physical exploration of the layers that come together to make a body. This body, that sometimes needs to be shed to reveal new layers. Perhaps, underneath you’ll find electric blue wings, a feeling of lightness or a soft, golden interior.
From One Skin to Another is a collaboration between the dance artist Alexandra Paal and the costume designer and choreographer Alice Ortona Coles. The work stems from an exploration of each other’s practices. Alice brings her experience in textile design and Alexandra brings a deep interest in the curation of spaces, light and atmosphere.
